Health Care Reform

The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute was called upon by leaders in the New Jersey Senate and Assembly to assist them in developing comprehensive health care reform proposals for the state. Senate Health Committee Chairman Joseph Vitale and Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee Chairman Neil Cohen looked to the Quality Institute to do what it does best: Gather together stakeholders and begin a frank and open dialogue which leads to results.

Health care professionals, business and labor leaders, public policy makers and many of the state's leading opinion leaders engaged in a free and open exchange of ideas led by the Quality Institute.

The result?

A transformational proposal announced in late 2006; embraced by the Governor; and now being discussed in all quarters of New Jersey and nationally to provide a fundamental change in the way our state provides access to affordable health care for its citizens.

What had once appeared to many to be an intractable problem - what to do about New Jersey's 1.3 million uninsured - now appears on the verge of solution. All as a result of men and women of substance gathering together to have frank and open dialogue under the leadership of the Quality Institute.
